Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Legacy Suite, digital inheritance, and securing your assets for the future.

General Questions

Legacy Suite is a comprehensive digital inheritance platform. It allows you to secure digital assets (cryptocurrency, NFTs, social accounts) and important documents, ensuring they are securely transferred to your designated beneficiaries if something happens to you. We use automated "dead man's switch" technology to verify your status before releasing any information.
Legacy Suite complements traditional estate planning but focuses specifically on digital assets, which are often overlooked in standard wills. While we offer tools to create legal will documents, we recommend using our platform alongside legal counsel to ensure your entire estate—both physical and digital—is fully covered.
For most individuals and families, an online estate plan is an efficient, affordable, and legally sound way to get essential documents in place. Legacy Suite is ideal if you need a will, trust, power of attorney, healthcare directive, or digital asset protection. However, if you have an exceptionally complex estate — such as business succession planning, multi-jurisdictional assets, or contested family situations — we recommend also consulting with an estate planning attorney. Legacy Suite complements traditional legal counsel; our attorney-reviewed templates cover the most common planning needs, but they are not a substitute for personalized legal advice in complex situations.
We offer several tiers, starting with a free Basic plan for simple document storage. Our Premium plans, which include crypto wallet integrations, NFT protection, and unlimited digital vaults, start at $9.99/month.

Estate Planning Basics

Yes. Without a will, state laws (called "intestacy laws") decide how your assets are distributed — and it may not align with your wishes. A will ensures your property, finances, and personal belongings go to the people you choose. It also allows you to name guardians for minor children and designate an executor to manage your estate. If you hold any digital assets — crypto, NFTs, online accounts — a will becomes even more critical, as these assets can be permanently lost without a documented plan. Legacy Suite makes it easy to create a will in minutes, alongside a complete digital estate plan.
A living will, also known as an advance healthcare directive, is a legal document that outlines your medical treatment preferences if you become unable to communicate them yourself. It covers decisions like life-sustaining treatment, resuscitation preferences, and organ donation wishes. With Legacy Suite, you can create a healthcare directive as part of your estate plan. Our platform walks you through key medical scenarios so you can clearly document your wishes, and securely stores the document so your family and healthcare providers can access it when needed.
A trust is a legal arrangement where a trustee holds and manages assets on behalf of your beneficiaries. Unlike a will, a trust can help you avoid probate — the often lengthy and public court process of distributing assets after death. A living trust also provides continuity if you become incapacitated. You may benefit from a trust if you own real estate, have minor children, want to keep your estate private, or want your beneficiaries to receive assets faster. Legacy Suite allows you to create a living trust directly on the platform as part of your comprehensive estate plan.
A power of attorney (POA) is a legal document that grants someone you trust the authority to make financial or legal decisions on your behalf if you're unable to do so — for example, due to illness, injury, or travel. Without a POA, your family may have to go through court to gain authority over your finances. Legacy Suite lets you create a durable power of attorney alongside your other estate planning documents, ensuring all your critical legal protections are organized in one place.

Security & Privacy

No. We utilize a non-custodial architecture for critical secrets. Your private keys and seed phrases are encrypted client-side before they ever reach our servers. We cannot access your funds or decrypt your most sensitive data without your specific authorization keys, which are shared only with your beneficiaries upon verification.
We employ AES-256 encryption for data at rest and TLS 1.3 for data in transit. Additionally, we use Zero-Knowledge Proof protocols for identity verification, ensuring we can verify you without needing to see the raw data of your secrets.

Digital Assets

Legacy Suite supports direct integration with MetaMask, Ledger, Trezor, and Coinbase Wallet. You can also manually add details for any other wallet or exchange account (e.g., Binance, Kraken) into your secure digital vault.
Yes. Our platform includes specific gallery features for cataloging NFTs on Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon blockchains, ensuring your digital art collection is preserved and accessible to your heirs.

Updating & Managing Your Plan

Yes. If your existing will no longer reflects your wishes, you can create an updated will on Legacy Suite. Once properly signed and witnessed, your new will supersedes any prior versions. We also recommend including a clause revoking all previous wills, which our platform includes by default. Beyond updating your will, Legacy Suite lets you build a complete digital estate plan around it — adding digital asset protection, beneficiary designations, a secure vault, and legacy messages that your previous will likely doesn't cover.
You can update your estate plan on Legacy Suite anytime. Simply log in, make your changes, and generate updated documents. Important notes: legal documents (wills, trusts, POA) need to be re-printed, re-signed, and re-witnessed after any changes to remain legally valid. Digital asset designations, beneficiary assignments, and vault contents can be updated instantly on the platform. Crypto wallet assignments can be reassigned to different beneficiaries at any time. We recommend reviewing your entire plan at least once a year or after major life events such as marriage, divorce, the birth of a child, or significant changes in assets.

SAGE AI

SAGE is Legacy Suite's AI-powered assistant designed to simplify the estate planning process. SAGE helps guide you through creating your estate plan by asking relevant questions about your assets, family situation, and wishes, then generating personalized document recommendations and content. It can help you understand estate planning concepts, explain legal terminology in plain language, and ensure you don't overlook important aspects of your plan. SAGE makes estate planning accessible to everyone — even if you have no prior legal or financial knowledge.
No. SAGE AI is designed to make estate planning more accessible and understandable, but it is not a substitute for personalized legal advice. SAGE helps you create attorney-reviewed document templates, explains concepts in simple terms, and guides you through the planning process. However, for complex estates, tax optimization strategies, business succession planning, or situations involving disputes, we recommend consulting with a qualified estate planning attorney. Think of SAGE as your starting point — it gets you organized and covered for the essentials, and helps you identify when you might need professional counsel.
All document templates on Legacy Suite are attorney-reviewed and designed to meet legal standards across US states. SAGE AI assists in the document creation process by guiding you through relevant questions and populating your answers into these templates. The underlying templates are legally structured — SAGE ensures you complete them thoroughly and correctly. That said, Legacy Suite is not a law firm, and we recommend reviewing your completed documents with an attorney if you have specific concerns. Our platform also includes validation checks to flag incomplete sections or potential inconsistencies before you finalize your documents.
